Cedric Muhammad-Black Coffee Show-Davey D Speaks on HR 848

The move away from political ideology continued in Cedric‘s first show since the week off for a tree-hugging dual-minded observance of Memorial Day/African Liberation Day (Can one really be a confused Army brat/Pan-Africanist?)…Although he initially tried to be diplomatic, Cedric eventually assigned an official ‘Wacktivist’ label on the anti-hunger bloggers, advocates and politicians in Harlem who have decided to ‘force’ Costco to accept millions of dollars in Food Stamps (rather than calling for the financially backing of local entrepreneurs capable of building an alternative wholesale/grocery store outlet that would keep those Food Stamps circulating where they belong!)

President Obama was saluted for exposing the partisan cult charade masquerading as ‘news’ on cable channels likening it to the WWF (Things like this are why Cedric voted for him)…On the basis of Business principles, Cedric also defended POTUS B.O.’s selection of Sister Sotomayor for the Supreme Court and his recent embrace of Ronald Reagan imagery – which demonstrate that emerging demand (‘Hispanic voting bloc’ and his Republican supporters ‘Obamicans’) is more important than current demand (‘African-American’ voting bloc) when current demand is constant (or just lazily loyal)

…The last Eminem record to ever be played on the show was spun (a 2001 classic), after a review of “Relapse” which noted its quality production by Dr. Dre and lyrical flow by the White America’s Prodigal Son, but which deducted points because 10 years of hearing about Em’s personal problems is a now boring (which is why sales have dropped to 200,000 in week 2 from a 600,000 debut) . However, the hot new Ben Harper album – “White Lies For Dark Times” received 4 crescents out of five…Listeners were warned about starting businesses with partners who lack strong will power and really are not Entrepreneurs but only Professionals in transition (praying for a better job from the Mystery God via begging ‘the system’)

daveyd-raider2… the legendary Hip-Hop Historian Davey D. called in with perhaps the best breakdown of HR 848 and why it is hard for him to support John Conyers, Cathy Hughes and even Dionne Warwick on this one

…Cedric confided that he has been watching Oprah for a week and is not buying a recent repeat episode that claims a 12-year old boy received a text message in which he was propositioned by a 12-year girl and voluntarily took it to his mother in disgust (Cedric suspects that the Mother actually spied on her son and read the text through covert operations OR that the boy never really liked the girl anyway and just wanted to humiliate her)…The show ended with an explanation as to why China still actually wants and needs a strong U.S. dollar and an insightful breakdown of the phony pleasantries exchanged by Kobe and Magic Johnson in a recent interview (couldn’t you just hear them both thinking, ‘I’m better than you’?)…Did anyone catch the hot Angela Davis-Papoose hourly intro?!?

Killer Cop Johannes Mehserle will stand trial for Murdering Oscar Grant

Johannes Mehserle’s decision not to testify at a preliminary hearing left the judge hearing the case of the shooting of unarmed passenger Oscar Grant with no choice but to put the former BART Police Officer on trial for murder.

OAKLAND (KRON) Judge C Don Clay told the court, “this case boils down to the state of mind of Mehserle at the time of the incident.”

Since Mehserle didn’t testify, Judge Clay says he couldn’t determine the defendant’s state of mind at the time of the shooting.

Mehserle shot and killed Grant while investigating a fight on a BART train early on New Year’s morning.

The former officer’s attorney, Michael Rains, tells KRON 4 he’s not happy with how things turned out, “”We are going to take a look at things and move forward to the next arraignment and see if we need to challenge the basis on the ruling. We need to get transcripts from the prelim, and than with utmost certainty we will look into if we need to challenge the way that the judge conducted himself during the entire case. We will be figuring out our plan of action over the next couple of days and will most likely have a decision soon if we are going to file any sort of appeal.”

Judge Clay said it was clear to him that Mehserle shot Grant, that the victim was unarmed, and that manslaughter can’t be determined without knowing Mehserle’s state of mind.

The judge also says he found a conflict in reports of Mehserle’s behavior immediately before and after the shooting.  Officer Tony Pirone testified Mehserle told him to stand back because he was going to shoot Grant with a taser.  However Judge Clay says that doesn’t square with the former officer’s remarks that he thought Grant had a gun.  The judge says if Mehserle is going to argue a case of self defense, he would have to acknowledge the shooting was intentional and not an accident.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Mehserle intended to shoot Oscar Grant with a gun and not a Taser.” the judge said.

As to whether Grant was cooperating with officers, the judge said the victim “did nothing to warrant deadly force.”

Witnesses did say Mehserle said “Oh My God” several times after the shooting but Judge Clay says he didn’t know what that meant.  He noted no one reported the officer as saying he made a mistake.

The judge said he wasn’t sure he trusted the testimony on Pirone.  He did credit another officer’s statements that Mehserle’s mood was “elevated” following an earlier chase involving a man with a gun at the West Oakland station.

Mehserle is due to return to court June 18th for a formal arraignment.  He could then learn a trial date in the case.

UK Police Seek to Arrest People Wearing Too Much Bling

Police’s latest brainwave: Report people who wear too much ‘bling’ to Crimestoppers

By David Wilkes

Watching a tight T-shirt-wearing, cocksure man wearing a gaudy gold chain round his neck strutting down the street is often worth a phone-call to the fashion police.

But one force is taking the idea a step further and encouraging people to shop Mr T-wannabes to Crimestoppers in a novel – some might say barmy – plan to bring down the crime rate.

In the latest example of innovative policing in Britain, the Gloucestershire force is encouraging members of the public to report people wearing too much ‘bling’ during the recession.

They are also urging people to shop anyone who drives flash cars or buys expensive items without the apparent means to afford them during the credit crunch.

The campaign, run with Crimestoppers, was launched by the force today under the title ‘Too Much Bling? Give Us a Ring’ with the aim of cracking down on those who live a lavish lifestyle on the profits of crime

Gloucestershire’s Chief constable Dr Timothy Brain said: ‘In the current time of financial uncertainty, those who live a lavish lifestyle with no discernable, legitimate income become even more apparent.

‘By flaunting their ill-gotten gains criminals signal contempt for everyone who works hard, and act as very poor role models for the younger members of society.

‘There are certain members of the criminal fraternity for whom a prison sentence or some other form of court punishment is not a sufficient deterrent.

‘Many criminals, including drug dealers and burglars, prize the trappings they have gained far more than their own liberty, and, having no need to get a legitimate job, are unconcerned by the impact a criminal record will have on their career prospects.’

But Tory MP and former Home Secretary Ann Widdecombe expressed disbelief at the move.

She said: ‘Is this a joke? If the police spent half as much time tackling crime and getting out on the beat as they do coming out with this ridiculous stuff, we’d all be better off.

‘How are you meant to judge if someone buying a piece of jewellery can afford it? I expect even Posh Spice, like most people, can look a bit down and out some days.’

Under the Proceeds of Crime Act, last year Gloucestershire Constabulary, the Crown Prosecution Service and the courts confiscated nearly £1.8million from convicted criminals and removed £1.4million in ill-gotten gains.

Adrian Foster, from Gloucestershire Crown Prosecution Service, said: ‘We have had incredible success over the last year in taking the profit out of crime and this campaign marks a call for all members of the public to assist in ensuring that crime really does not pay in Gloucestershire.’
